Gyalshing, Sept 16 (IPR): Hon’ble Minister, Water Resources and PHE Departments, Shri Bhim Hang Subba inaugurated the 200 litres per minute PSA medical oxygen generation plant at the District Hospital Gyalshing, West Sikkim, today.
The Hon’ble Minister was joined by District Collector, West, Shri Karma R. Bonpo, CMO West, DMS West, doctors and medical staff of the District Hospital.
This event in itself is pronounced as a historical achievement in the health care sector. Now the hospital can produce its own oxygen, at low operation cost ,fully automated and with high gas purity.
The country witnessed medical oxygen shortage due to an unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases. The shortage of oxygen supply was alarming. The supply of medical oxygen is extremely important for severe COVID-19 patients as one of the most common symptoms of the virus is shortness of breath. The government has taken a step forward in preparing the state to combat any severe shortage of oxygen in the state in future.
The government has put the highest priority on the health sector and efforts are on to make the health care system in Sikkim the best in the country. The vision of the government is to ensure quality health care for all within the state.
