Education has been and will always be a priority for the State, says DC West in DIET, Gyalshing

Gyalshing, 12 Sept (IPR): The valedictory programme of ‘Orientation-cum-Refreshers Training for the Heads of Primary School of West District’ was organised today at the premises of District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) in Gyalshing, West Sikkim.

The programme was attended by District Collector (West), Dr. AB Karki, SCS,  as chief guest and Deputy Director, Human Resource Development Department, Smt. KD Bhutia, as guest of honor along with Principal, DIET, Shri OP Ghatani, and other dignitaries.

The three-daylong orientation organized by the DIET, West had commenced on 10 September wherein various training modules and useful teaching methods were imparted by resource persons of DIET, Gyalshing.

District Collector, West, Dr. Karki, encouraged the trainees to become well-equipped and make a difference in their respective schools regardless of the challenges they may face. He urged the heads of the Primary Schools of West Sikkim to be an example for the society and to do exemplary work in order to achieve greatness.

He mentioned that teachers are the idols whom students look up to hence their persona matters in building the future leaders of a better Sikkim. He also added that with regard to the Aspirational District, West Sikkim has become the 2nd best aspirational district in India. He stated that education has always been a priority for the State and hence the responsibility lies on the shoulders of teachers to achieve greatness and make West Sikkim number one in that regard.

The DC also expressed desire to visit different schools of West Sikkim in the coming days along with the District Information Officer (IPR), West.

Certificate of Excellence along with cash prize of Rs. 5000/- sponsored by Lecturer, DIET Gangtok, Smt. Aruna Pradhan, was awarded to Shri Bhim Raj Pradhan by the chief guest.
