Gyalshing, 08 Sept (IPR): Additional District Collector, West, Shri Karma Lodey Lepcha, along with Superintendent of Police, West, Shri Tenzing Loden Lepcha, visited the prolonged landslide prone area of Som in West Sikkim. The ADC was accompanied by officials of Roads, PMGSY and Forest Departments to review the possible outcome and solutions relating to the inconveniences faced by the public.
The ADC has directed the officials to ask the public residing in the nearby areas to cooperate with the departments in order to come with a solution as soon as possible. He also further asked the officials to hear out the grievances and make plans to ease the traffic situations for the public.
The SP/West has asked the Superintending Engineer, Roads to chalk out a necessary plan of action along with the technical viewpoints which could be explained by the department to the affected public. He asked them to take necessary safety measures before the clearing of the debris.
He also asked the SE to submit a report on the options available for various routes available to the public for commuting from Dentam and surrounding areas to District HQ at Gyalshing .
In conclusion, the SP also asked the SE if they could give a rough timeline on the completion of connectivity in the same route or any alternative routes.
The Department of Roads has advised the public of Dentam and the adjoining areas to take a detour route of Rinchenpong to Legship via Yangsum and Chingthang to reach Gyalshing for their official work. Further, the clearing of the debris at Lingchom road will be done after necessary clearance from the public for rural villagers of the areas.
