Namchi,5th August : District Collector, South, visited Melli and it’s surrounding areas today along with SDM Jorethang and BDO Sumbuk to take a stock of ongoing repair and restoration works in the areas which were affected by the incessant rainfall of 29th July 2021.

The inspection was conducted to review the progress of restoration works which commenced on 30th July 2021 wherein all concerned line departments were directed to carry out restoration works on war footing. All three access roads leading to Melli Bazar had been completely damaged due to the torrential rainfall that occurred on the night of 29th July.

Following the disaster, on 30th July, a temporary relief camp had been established at Melli, Chalisey for the accommodation of affected households and temporary water supply had been arranged for the residents of Melli Bazar till the complete restoration of PHE water supply line.

Urban Development Department has deployed workers to clear the debris from town areas which will be completed very soon .

Roads and Bridges department has initiated the process of restoration of damaged roads which shall be completed soon.
