Gangtok July 6: Hon’ble Minister for Rural Development Department Shri Sonam Lama along with Principal Secretary RDD Shri C. S. Rao, Principal Chief Engineer, Special Secretary, Dir Accounts and other members of the department inspected the furniture and finalised the specifications of the furniture including the television set of LG brand. The team finalised the following items which will be supplied to all the 3050 nos. of houses being constructed under Sikkim Garib Hawas Yojana (SGAY). The details of furniture being supplied are as follows:-
1. Double bed- 5ft X 6ft wooden frame with 19mm Plyboard
2. 2 nos. Single bed – 3ft X 6ft wooden frame with 19mm Plyboard
3. Wooden sofa – 3+1+1 seats
4. 2 nos fo steel almirah – 3ft X 6ft
5. Centre table – 4ft X 2ft
6. LG Smart television set – 32” LED.
As per the progress informed by the contractor, the construction activity has started for 2005 no. of houses wherein casting of slab has been done for 1010 houses, 503 houses have completed plinth level and the remaining houses construction activities are at different levels. The Department is trying to complete these 3050 nos. of houses by 31st of March 2022.
The team also inspected the construction activities of the houses under Duga BAC and interacted with the beneficiaries to know their views. The team also expressed their satisfaction by seeing the active participation of beneficiaries for constructing their houses. The Department has also cross checked with the contractor whether the directions given by the HCM regarding the use of chemical to prevent leakage has been incorporated while casting slabs.
The beneficiaries also expressed their happiness and satisfaction to the HCM and the Government for identifying their basic needs and providing quality housing.
