Hon’ble Minister Shri Lok Nath Sharma interacts with the farmers of Gelling


Gyalshing, June 24 (IPR): Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Departments, Shri Lok Nath Sharma interacted with the farmers of Gelling and peripheries under Salghari Zoom constituency, West Sikkim. He was accompanied by Area MLA Smt. Sunita Gazmer.

Addressing the farmers, Minister Shri Sharma announced to establish Milk Dairy Cooperative at Gelling and Lower Segang within a week.

Earlier, the farmers appraised the Minister on the increasing milk production in the locality and demanded for opening of a dairy cooperative.

The Minister discussed the proposal with the Managing Director, Sikkim Milk Union Dr. AB Karki, over telephonic call and came to conclusion to establish Milk Dairy Cooperative, within a week. Minister Shri Sharma also urged the farmers to collect milk of at least one hundred litres in the dairy cooperative.

The Minister expressed happiness on the increasing interest of the farming community in Dairy and Livestock Farming Sector. He mentioned that the involvement of youth age group in Dairy sector clearly indicates a step forward towards self-reliance in rural economy and Aatmanirbhar Sikkim.

Earlier, he also interacted with the field functionaries of Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and encouraged them to provide exemplary service to benefit the farming community with utmost sincerity and dedication.
