Mass Testing in South District


Namchi, 30th May(IPR): As, the State Government has focused on ramping up mass testing for COVID-19 so that the postive patients can be traced and treated by health care professionals, the South District Health Team is conducting mass testing at various locations covering both rural and urban areas.

As, per the information received from the health department during the month of April and May, 2021 the total RT-PCR samples collected was 6019, the total RAT tests done was 2012 and the total positive of South is 1714, these figures are restricted till today’s morning.

Most of the mass testing in the community
is being conducted at probable hotspots in lieu with the State Government’s strategy that mass testing is the way forward to bring down transmission rate and also to understand the dynamics of virus transmission in the State. Based on the results of the test the health team will make arrangements for the positive patients treatments and for the same cooperation from the public is a must.

The State Government has also initiated a village level monitoring team consisting of members from Gram Panchayat or Municipal Council, ASHA, Aaganwadi Worker and Volunteers who will coordinate with the medical Officer of the area for monitoring positive person’s under home quarantine the team if need be will also assist in tracing the primary contacts of the COVID-19 patients.
