
Gangtok, March 10th (IPR): The two day long “Sahakar Bharati Sikkim Rajya Adhiveshan” programme organised by Sahakar Bharati Sikkim State Unit at the SICUN auditorium in Assam Lingzey concluded today. The event was chaired by Hon’ble MLA/Namcheybung constituency Shri Em Prasad Sharma, as chief guest.
At the onset of the programme, National General Secretary, Sahakar Bharati, Dr. Udai Joshi, presented a brief overview of Sahakar Bharati at a glance which was followed by a SWOT analysis of the Cooperative Movement delivered by SICUN representative.
The first half of the technical session on “Building youth entrepreneur through Cooperative Movement” had addresses presented by Shri Bidyut Kr. Basu from NABARD on “Marketing through Cooperative” and Smt Madhu Bala Sahu, Marketing Head of Simply Deshi on “Organic Marketing & Food Processing through Cooperative Society” while MD, Denzong Agricultural Co-operative Society Ltd. (DACS) gave an overview of DACS and its initiatives.
During the second half of the technical session, MD, Sikkim Milk Union, Dr. A.B. Karki, elucidated on rural economy and dairy cooperative while MD, Sikkim State Co-operative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd. (SIMFED), Shri Bhaskar Basnet spoke about various aspects of business and enterprise through SIMFED.
Likewise, MD, Sikkim State Co-operative Bank Ltd. (SISCO), Smt Pema Chenzom, in her address, emphasized banking operations through SISCO while Patron of Sahakar Bharati, Shri Jyotindra Bhai Mehta, elaborated on the role of youth in Cooperative Movements.
The Sahakar Bharati Sikkim Unit also formed its Central Executive Committee and Executive Committee today with Shri Mangaljit Rai as its President, Shri Tashi Ongdup Lepcha and Ms. Bishnu Maya Manger as its Vice Presidents and Shri L.P. Kafley as its General Secretary.
Later, a press briefing was also held at the SICUN conference hall which was addressed by Chairman, SICUN, Shri L.P. Kafley, National General Secretary, Sahakar Bharati, Dr. Udai Joshi, and President, Sahakar Bharati, Sikkim Unit, Shri Mangaljit Rai. It was informed that a charter of demands has been put forward to the State Government with regard to various reforms needed for the overall development of cooperative societies in the State.
It may be mentioned here, the Sahakar Bharati Adhiveshan programme was organised by the Sahakar Bharati Sikkim Unit in collaboration with the Cooperation Department, Government of Sikkim, National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India (NCDFI), Anand, Gujarat, Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN), Sikkim State Co-operative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd. (SIMFED), Denzong Agricultural Co-operative Society Ltd. (DACS), Sikkim State Co-operative Bank Ltd. (SISCO) and Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (SCMPUL).
