Mahila Shakti Kendra observes International Women’s Day at West Sikkim

Gyalshing, 8th March 2021: Mahila Shakti Kendra (West) observed International Women’s Day at Mangalbaria, West Sikkim, today. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women’s.
The event was graced by Ms. Tara Sharma(PI Nayabazar) as a Chief Guest accompanied by Dr. Udit Pradhan (Medical Incharge, Mangalbaria), ASHA, Anganwadi workers, healthcare workers, police personnel and local women of the locality.
Speaking in brief, the Chief Guest awarded the gathering on the prevention of child marriages, human trafficking, POCSO cases, cybercrimes including neglected and unreported pocso cases.
Dr. Udit Pradhan (Medical Incharge, Mangalbaria PHC) spoke on mental health,
Suicidal thoughts and suicide prevention.
District Coordinator MSK (West) spoke on various schemes under WCD, Welfare Division, Banking schemes and promoting local women entrepreneurs. He emphasised BBBP, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act, Domestic Violence Act, One Stop Centre, Women Helpline No -181, Childline No- 1098, Swadhar Greh, Working Women Hostel and schemes under ICDS such as Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, SNP, Poshan Abhiyan, etc.
Furthermore, schemes under NHM such as Janani Shishu Surakshya Karyakram, Janani Surakshya Yojana, and scholarships under HRDD and SJ&W dept were also discussed.
To observe the said event MSK (West) organized a sensitization programme followed by a general health checkup for rural women of Mangalbaria Block, with this year’s theme ‘Choose to Challenge’.
The programme also witnessed interaction and discussion on live cases of cyberbullying, cybercrime and trafficking.
