Gangtok, March 5th (IPR): Secretary for Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Sikkim, Shri H.K. Sharma inaugurated the Gandhi Shilp Bazaar 2020-21 Exhibition at the premises of Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom in Gangtok today. The Secretary was accompanied by Director, DHH, Smt Binita Thapa, along with media personnel and officers and staff of DHH.
The Gandhi Shilp Bazaar 2020-21 is being organised by Sikkim Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. under its Marketing Support and Services Scheme, sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India from 4th to13th March at the DHH premises, Zero Point.
The Exhibition-cum-Sale of handicrafts items features a large contingent of artisans, SHGs and Co-operative Societies from Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttrakhand, Delhi, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir and Sikkim. A total number of 70 stalls have been allotted to all the participants.
Chief guest, Shri H.K. Sharma, visited all the stalls and interacted with the participants and expressed keen interest and happiness in the various activities.
It may be mentioned that the Gandhi Shilp Bazaar is an annual feature of the Sikkim Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. calendar. It has been providing a platform for artisans, sellers and buyers to converge and create awareness vis-a-vis the handicraft sector as an employment and income generation industry.
