Namchi, 5th March (IPR): First round training program for polling personnel for Municipal Election 2021 was conducted at the conference hall of District Administrative Centre, today.
The training program had the presence of SDM (HQ) Shri. Chiran Rizal, SDM (Ravangla) Shri. Sonam Tashi Topgay and BDO (Sumbuk) Shri. Kiran Thatal as resource persons.
During the course of training, Shri. Chiran Rizal highlighted the importance of the free and fair election and urged the polling personnel to learn during the training and discharge their duties with full dedication and sincerity for the success and smooth functioning of the election. He also shared various insights into the roles and responsibilities at the time of poll day, before and after, duly adhering to the COVID-19 norms.
Resource Person Shri. Sonam Tashi Topgay imparted detailed instructions of the ‘Handbook for presiding officer for Municipal Election 2021’. In addition, he gave a broad outline of the various tasks at different stages to be performed, such as setting up of polling booth, secrecy and maintaining of account of votes record, paper seal account, election materials, presiding officers diary etc. Further, he also informed them of filling of various forms and annexures by presiding officer at their respective polling booths.
The program also saw hands-on training to familiarize with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) under the guidance of Resource Person Shri. Kiran Thatal while also explicitly demonstrating DO’s and Don’t in the process of the mock drill.
It may be mentioned that a total of 18 presiding officers and 17 polling officer (i) attended the training program.
