Mangan, 04 March: A day-long Kisan Gosthi cum Awareness Programme was organized by ICAR-IVRI Eastern Regional Station, Kolkatta in collaboration with KVK North Sikkim, Mangan at KVK Hall today. Hon’ble Chairman for State Welfare Commission, Shri Nim Tshering Lepcha was the Chief Guest.
Shri. Nim Tshering Lepcha expressed his gratitude towards ICAR- IVRI and KVK North Sikkim for organizing a beneficial programme for the farmers. He urged the farmers to take up farming on a large scale and set an example of self-reliant.
Senior Scientist and Head- KVK North Shri T. T. Bhutia, Joint Director Animal Husbandry, Dr. Dichen Kaleon, officials of KVK and farmers from Ringhim, Malling, Nampatam, Kalaw, Upper Singhik and Lower Singhik attended the programme.
Shri. T. T. Bhutia welcomed the gathering and briefed them about the programme. Dr. P .K. Panda, Principal scientist ICAR-IVRI briefed the gathering about the activities undertaken by ICAR-IVRI under NEH Programme in different states. Dr. U.K.Bandhopadhya, Principal scientist detailed the farmers about the importance of pig farming on a commercial scale. DR. T.K.Biswas, Principal scientist ICAR-IVRI briefed about the Scientific Piggery Care and Management.
Dr. Dichen Kaleon congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to take up piggery on large scale. Dr. Hishey Ongmoo SMS(Animal Science) KVK North detailed the gathering about the breed characteristic of HDK-75.
The farmers were benefitted from piglet breed HDK-75, feed and mineral supplements as well as medicines.
