Sashastra Seema Bal 72 Battallon Distributed Dustbins to 19 villages

Today on 4th March’21, Sashastra Seema Bal 72 Battalion Yuksum under its Civic Action Programme in North Eastern Region distributed 19 Stainless Steel (S/S) twin Dustbins to 19 different villages and Tourist places like Sopakha, Lingay Busty, Kumukh Sepi, Jhankridunga, Karmatar, Intake, Melli Aching, Khechuperi, Rabdentse Fort, Pema Yangtse Monastery etc. of West Sikkim at Community Hall Sopakha (West Sikkim).
The programme was chaired by Sh. S.K. Awadhiya, Officiating Commandant, 72 Bn SSB as the Chief Guest. Other special guests in the programme were Sh. Rajesh Kumar Singh, Dy. Commandant, 72 Bn SSB, Sh. Padam Bahadur Chettri Panchayat President, Rimbi Thingling GPU, Miss Son Kumari Limboo Panchayat President, 11 Darap Nambu GPU, Sh. Mangat Rai Panchayat President Rimbi Timbrong GPU and Panchayat members from various GPU, a large number of local people along with beneficiaries and students also witnessed the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Sh. S.K. Awadhiya, Officiating Commandant said that the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” or Clean India Mission is the much-needed initiative of all the citizens during these years. To generate awareness about the mission, we can make people understand waste management or the proper disposals of the garbage in our surroundings. By distributing the Stainless-Steel Dustbins at different villages and Common Places or Tourists points we will be able to keep unwanted waste of garbage to dump in the bins. People will also understand the efforts of the Force to maintain the areas clean which will help the Swacchta mission from the very ground level. Further, by taking such a welfare initiative, SSB will able to develop the confidence of local people.
Recognizing all the welfare initiatives and activities undertaken by 72 Bn SSB to the people of the area, the Sopakha Samaj Kalyan Samiti felicitated Sh. S.K. Awadhiya, Officiating Commandant on behalf of the people of the entire Sopakha Gram Panchayat Unit. A memento and letter of gratitude were handed over to Chief Guest by Sh. C.M. Limboo, President, Sopakha Samaj Kalyan Samiti.
