Namchi,4th March (IPR): One-day awareness programme was held at Officer’s Club, Namchi by Agriculture and Horticulture Department for the field functionaries and progressive farmers under Namchi block, today. The programme was chaired by Secretary, Horticulture Mr M.T. Sherpa
The programme started with a welcome speech by (HDO)Mrs. Purnima Theeng.
At the onset of the programme JD(Horticulture), Mr. Dikendra Bhujel introduced the guidelines of PIS and explained in detail the various programmes of Horticulture through Power Point presentation. He also reflected the direction given to the department by the government regarding the issue of incentives for 5 crops viz cardamom – 20 Rs per Kg, Ginger- 9 Rs per Kg, Turmeric-5 Rs per Kg, Orange- 10 Rs per Kg and Buckwheat- 4 Rs per Kg.
The programme was carried forward by JD (Agriculture) Dr. Pratap Subba. He explained the details of the survey related to PIS and the time frame to complete the scheme. He also highlighted other ongoing schemes along with PIS. He elaborated on the importance of PIS and its advantages for the farmers.
Joint Register (Corporation Department) Mr. D.R. Ghimerey reflected the work done by FPOs, MPCs, SIMFED, DACs along with collaboration with Agriculture and Horticulture.
Mr. Deoraj Subba, Manager, SIMFED, explained the schemes of SIMFED.
Further, Mr. Krishna Pradhan, FPO President, ( Kitam, Kamrang, Wok) highlighted the importance and provisions of FPOs. He also shared his knowledge working as FPO.
The programme also witnessed an open interactive session related to PIS.
During the interactive session, Secretary Horticulture Mr. M.T. Sherpa addressed the queries related to PIS. He also expressed that the scheme needs to have collaborated with cooperative and FPOs for the smooth functioning of PIS.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Mrs. Kalpana Pradhan (HDO) Namchi.
