Gangtok, March 4th: The Culture Department, Government of Sikkim in collaboration with the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Dimapur (Nagaland) is organizing 2 days Umang Programme-Workshop on paper bags, gift bags making & dry flower/artificial flower bouquets from 4th & 5th March 2021 at Syari, Gangtok, East Sikkim.
The main aim of the workshop is to provide opportunities for the development of artistic skill as per the National Policy of the Government of India for a person with disabilities by making paper bags &gift bags making and Dry flower/artificial flower bouquets etc.
The workshop is being participated by the Special School for speech & hearing impaired and special school for intellectual disability from Gangtok and its surroundings.
Smt. Chung Chung Bhutia, Chairperson of the Khadi Board graced the inaugural session as Chief Guest, OSD, Culture Department and other officials were also present on the programme. The programme was also attended by the caretakers of the differently-abled children from Special school for speech & hearing impaired and special school for intellectual disabilities.
Smt. Chung Chung Bhutia while addressing the function said that such programmes provide exposure to the Divyang (differently-abled children) to express their pain and sorrow to the magnified environment, and helps in providing a platform to show their talents. She also thanked the Culture Department for their initiation of such a praiseworthy task for the exposure of differently-abled children in and around Gangtok. She urged the participants to take full advantage of this workshop for their development and self –sustainability.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by OSD, Culture Department, Government of Sikkim Shri Bhawani Ghimiray.
