Municipal Returning Officer South informs no nominations were filed on the second day

Namchi, 2nd January (IPR): On, the second day of filing nominations, no nominations were received today for the Municipal Elections, 2021 as informed by the Municipal Returning Officer (South) Shri. M.Bharani Kumar.
In, South District two Urban Local Bodies shall be going for Municipal Election i.e. Namchi Municipal Council (NMC) and Naya-Bazar Jorethang Nagar Panchayat (NJNP).
Under Namchi Municipal Council there are a total of 07 wards. The reservations of seats in the said Municipal Areas are as follows Gangyap Unreserved (Women), Dambudara OBC (State List), Upper Ghurpisey (Scheduled Tribe), Lower Ghurpisey (Scheduled Caste, Women), Upper Boomtar (Scheduled Tribe Women), Upper Singhithang OBC (Central List) and Purano Namchi OBC (Central List).
Similarly, under Naya-Bazar Jorethang Nagar Panchayat there are 05 wards. The reservations of seats in the said Municipal Areas are as follows Shantinagar Unreserved, Trikaleshwar OBC (Central List, Women), Daragaon OBC (State List), Majhigaon (Scheduled Tribe) and Nayabazar (Scheduled Caste, Women).
In NMC there are 9 polling stations and a total number of 6787 voters out of which 3437 and 3350 voters are females and males, respectively. Likewise, in NJNP there are 6 polling stations and a total number of 5630 voters out of which 2689 and 2941 are females and males respectively.
Moreover, the State Election Commission has appointed the Secretary (Sikkim, Housing and Development Board) Sri. C.K. Chettri as Election Observer for all the wards of NMC and NJNP.
