Gangtok, February 25th (IPR): Three round training program for Presiding Officers and Polling Officers was held at East District Zilla Bhawan, Conference Hall, Sichey.
Additional District Collector, East, Shri Tushar Nikhare, IAS, as a resource person briefed the officials about their roles and responsibilities with respect to the conduct of the election.
The functioning of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) & Voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) was also explained and a hands-on training session was conducted to familiarize EVM and VVPAT.
He elucidated on the tasks to be meticulously achieved prior to the polling day, during the polling day and certain tasks to be completed after the polling. The trainees were informed about the various DOs and DON’Ts regarding the polling process in line with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI). The significance of the conduct of the mock poll before commencing the actual poll was emphasized and all the necessary procedures pertaining to the polling process were demonstrated.
