A three day-long Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) Training for beneficiaries under the Skilled Youth Start-Up Scheme (SYSS) commenced in the conference hall of Karfectar, Jorethang today. The training organized by Positron Computer Education Institute, Gangtok in collaboration with DIC (S/W) Jorethang had the participation of 27 beneficiaries under SYSS from both South and West Districts.
The inaugural session had the presence of General Manager, DIC (S/W) Jorethang Mrs. Sukmaya Subba who graced the event as the Chief Guest in the company of Deputy Director DIC (S/W) Ms. Kerzang.D.Lassopa, Assistant Director (South) Mr. L.B Subba, Assistant Director (West) Mr. A.D Rai along with MD (Positron Computer Education Institute) Mr. Jaganath Sharma and resource persons for the said training.
The objective of the EDP training is to facilitate and develop entrepreneurial abilities among the beneficiaries under SYSS in order to aid them to conceive, plan, initiate and launch an economic activity or an enterprise successfully. It will primarily cover three major variables- location, target group and enterprise and therefore will prove to be one of the most effective tool for developing new entrepreneurs.
In the course of the three day training programme w.e.f 22nd to 24th February 2021, various resource persons specialized in the field of sales and marketing, finance, planning, consultancy, bookkeeping of accounts and various other components required to develop and hone entrepreneurial traits will impart an extensive course to the 27 beneficiaries which will equip the beneficiaries with the required skills and knowledge needed for starting and running their enterprise.
It may be mentioned here that the Sikkim Skilled Youth Startup Scheme is a flagship programme that was launched on 20th September 2020 through the hands of Honourable Chief Minister Shri. Prem Singh Tamang where the state govt. through the Commerce & Industries Department will provide admissible financial assistance to unemployed youth for assisting the educated unemployed youth of the state for creating new livelihood options in order to make them self-reliant and self-sufficient in their desired fields.
