Hon’ble Minister Shri L. N. Sharma gives away Banpala sheep to the beneficiaries

Gyalshing, 28th January :(IPR) The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services distributed One Hundred and Seventy (170) Banpala sheep to the farmers of four Constituencies of West District in a special programme organised at Dentam, today.
The Hon’ble Minister for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Agriculture and Horticulture, Shri Lok Nath Sharma gave away Banpala sheep to the thirty-four beneficiaries from Yuksom Tashiding, Manebong Dentam, Daramdin and Gyalshing Bermiok Constituencies, West District. Each beneficiary received five sheep along with the financial incentives of Rupees three thousand for construction of night shelters and feed supplements with a provision of sheep insurance for medical sickness of an incurable disease.
Minister, in his brief address, outlined the purpose of the Sheep distribution programme and said that the state government is committed to uplift the hardworking underprivileged farmers and youths by providing them income generating source of livelihood.
He urged beneficiaries to rear and conserve Banpala sheep with proper care for breeding so that the state government can purchase for further distribution and sheep farming. The distribution programme was held under a governmental scheme of National Livestock Mission.
The programme also had the presence of Principal Director AH&VS Dr. TP Lama, Additional Director AH&VS West Dr. Narad Cintury, SDM Dentam Shri NK Karki, BDO Dentam Shri Garap Dorjee Bhutia and others.
