Gyalshing,16th January 2021(IPR): Along with the rest of the country, the West District of Sikkim also launched the COVID-19 vaccination drive, following the launching of much awaited nationwide COVID-19 Vaccination drive, by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, today.
The Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA of Gyalshing Bermiok Constituency, Shri Lok Nath Sharma officially launched the vaccination drive at District Hospital Gyalshing, soon after attending the virtual video conference of rolling out of vaccination drive against Novel Corona Virus by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
The launching programme also had the presence of the District Collector West Shri Karma R. Bonpo, Principal Director(l) Health Deptt. Dr Tshering Laden, Chief Medical Officer District Hospital Gyalshing Dr.Anusha Lama, Consultant Health Emergency from World Health Organization Dr Hibal Rawal, Vaccine E Cold Chain Manager Ms Sashi Ghimirey and senior health officials.
Speaking to Media, Minister Sharma marked the day a historic for the nation and expressed gratitude to the scientists and all medical professionals involved in achieving major breakthrough of developing COVID-19 vaccine. He also congratulated all frontline Warriors and medical staff of District Hospital Gyalshing, and also advised people to follow preventive measures even after administrating Vaccine.
Principal Director Dr Tshering Laden informed that required doses of “Covishield” have already been delivered at District Hospital Gyalshing which will be administered to the Health Care workers who are directly involved in patient care, in the first phase. The launching programme was held in Gangtok and Gyalshing today to join the nationwide vaccination drive.
