Gangtok, January 6: Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) Shri Jay Shah called on the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang at his official residence at Mintokgang, today.
During the call on, several points towards the advancement of cricket in the State and further improving the facilities were discussed. Shri Shah and the team also assured us to extend every possible support towards the integration and development of cricket in Sikkim.
It is the first time that the Honorary Secretary of BCCI and senior members have visited Sikkim, showing their intent to focus on the State and motivates the youths who aspire to embrace it as a profession. It is to mention here that since 2018 four states have been included in the National Cricket Organization. In this regard, Shri Jay Shah has been appointed as the Incharge of Sikkim and the other three states, viz. Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister proposed to the members to set up a National Cricket Academy in Sikkim which will provide a platform for the younger generation and added that the State Government will extend every possible assistance for it.
The Chief Minister also extended his gratitude towards them for their visit and wished for success in their endeavor. He also hoped that in the days to come, the talents will discover from Sikkim to represent the State and the Nation in major tournaments at home and abroad.
The President, Cricket Association of Bengal, Shri Abhishek Dalmia, Councillor of IPL Governing Council, Shri Mamom Majumdar, Interim CEO BCCI, Shri Hemang Amin, AGM Operations BCCI, Shri Gaurav Saxena, President Cricket Association of Sikkim, Shri Lopzang Tenzing along with other members were also present during the call on.
