
Gangtok, 23rd December: The “Chief Minister One Mile Run 2020” was launched today at various Blocks Administrative Centers under the supervision of Deputy Directors of Districts and Assistant Director of BACs, Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim.
This programme has been initiated as per announcement of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim on “National Sports Day 2020” at Namchi on 29th August 2020 and is being conducted under the guidance of Hon’ble Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Department.
The scheme is to focus on leading a healthier way of life for the children, youths and the general public as well as increase awareness among the public regarding the
benefits of physical and mental wellbeing.
Further, this initiative would be beneficial for creating a large talent pool in the future, as it would be a very inclusive approach for scouting and nurturing new and raw talent.
The Run will be organized on every Saturday by BACs, Institutions and Clubs etc. in a mass movement. The instruction has also been given to conduct the programme following the SOP of Covid-19 pandemic.
The programme was conducted at various venues of the BACs in the State and total numbers of the participants are as under:
