I was pleased to be a part of the Bhutia Folk Culture & Singing Competition Grand Finale organized by the Denzong Lugar Sungkyop Tshogpa which was held at Manan Kendra.
During my address, I extended my gratitude to the Chief Patron/ Hon’ble Minister Shri Sonam Lama, the President, Advisor of the committee and other members for inviting me to be a part of this special occasion. It was delightful to witness the representation of the vibrant cultures of Sikkim. I stated that it is essential to continue hosting such events that highlight our culture and traditions and signifies the heritage passed on from generations, representing our unique identity.
I reiterated that there should be an integration of our heritage, customs and traditions in various programs to educate and inform the younger generations. I commended the Denzong Lugar Sungkyop Tshogpa for their efforts to revive and preserve the culture and traditions and imparting this knowledge among the youths.
Sikkim is a peaceful state and has perpetually maintained communal harmony and have continually upheld this sanctity with the utmost regard for other culture and traditions. Likewise, I affirmed that we should continue with the same attitude and collectively work towards the welfare of our State.
I also stated that it is our Government’s policy to safeguard the democratic rights of our citizens. We encourage all to organize such events at regular intervals, and they should feel free to celebrate and attend without any form of concern and affiliations. I added that our Government desires to see the cultural organizations in the State prosper and urge more people to be involved in it. It is our responsibility to carry ahead our traditions and cultures and imbibe them among the youths.
The event showcased numerous performances by the participants. Moreover, I was delighted to witness the talent on display and encourage everyone to participate in similar events during the coming days.
