The first meeting of the District Level Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Committee was conducted at DAC East Sikkim

Gangtok, December 8: The first meeting of the District Level Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Committee was conducted on 7th December at the chamber of the District Collector, District Administrative Centre, Sichey, East Sikkim.
The meeting was chaired by Shri. Ragul K. District Collector-cum-Chairman along with Dr Siva P. Yellasiri, SP East, Shri Tushar Nikhare Additional District Collector, East Sikkim and all the Members.
During the meeting, the District Collector explained in detail about the Nasha Mukt Campaign to be conducted in the District for effective implementation and role and responsibilities of the District Committee.
In the meeting, the following points were discussed for taking further action:
1. To conduct awareness generation programme in all schools and colleges and to increase community participation and public cooperation.
2. Utilization of various media strategy for mass awareness like print media, social media, artwork etc for the district campaign and further implementation.
3. To use local language in the awareness materials like posters, pamphlets and brochures in all block level so that the information, education and communication reach to the grass root level.
4. Implementation of Online awareness activities through NGOs.
5. Identification of substance users and taking them to rehabilitation centres/Hospitals for counselling and treatment and after rehabilitation measures of the drug recovering patient.
6. Monitoring of counselling and treatments facilities in the districts.
7. Formulation of students clubs in colleges to discuss and spread awareness and revival of SAATHI programme.
8. Strict implementation of the ban in the sale of cigarettes with 100 meters of any Educational, Religious institutions and Hospitals.
9. Obtaining information on the availability/sale of drugs and review the action taken on such information.
10. Identifying volunteers in the community, giving them ID card/badge and training them as a community peer for spreading awareness in the community through Resource Person appointed by the concerned Ministry and training programme for the service providers as and when required.
11. To utilize social media platform by uploading videos featuring renowned personalities who have quit usage of substance/drugs, helpline numbers, counselling centre/ information etc.
