Gangtok, Nov 27: The Chief Secretary, Shri S.C. Gupta chaired a meeting of NHIDCL officials with Secretaries of concerned State Government Departments along with District Magistrates on 26/11/2020 to discuss the ongoing NHIDCL projects as well as those on the pipeline.
The NHIDCL was represented by the Managing Director, Shri Keshav Kumar Pathak, who is on a visit to Sikkim from New Delhi for inspection of the work sites.
During the meeting, a presentation was made by Shri M.S. Sodhi, Executive Director, NHIDCL wherein it was stated that NHIDCL would be investing around Rs. 6,577 crores on the roads projects in and around Sikkim in the next three years. The timeline for the projects was also shared in the presentation and is reproduced as below for information of all:

The Chief Secretary stated that the road projects under NHIDCL are of great strategic value and also of importance to the people of the State. He directed all the concerned Departments to extend full support to NHIDCL for timely completion of the projects. The issues relating to shifting of people and handing over the land in those cases where compensation amount has already been paid should be expedited. The proposals pending for cutting of trees falling in the land required for the road constructions should also be expedited by the Forest Department.
Further, the District Magistrates were asked to conduct monthly review meetings with concerned line Departments and NHIDCL officials to clear all pending issues.
