Gangtok, Nov 27 (IPR): Hamro Varta Publication launched Sikkim’s first 24/7 Television Network, today. Hon’ble Minister for Information and Public Relations Department Shri Lok Nath Sharma inaugurated TV Network “Hamro Varta Print & Digital Media”- News you can trust, established at DPH, this morning.
The inaugural program was also attended by the Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare Department Dr. M.K.Sharma, Hon’ble Minister for PHE Shri Bhim Hang Limboo, Hon’ble Minister for Transport Department Shri Sanjit Kharel, Hon’ble MLA Shri Em Prasad Sharma, Political Secretary to HCM Shri Jacob Khaling, Advisor, Information and Public Relations Department Shri Birendra Tamling, Confidential Secretary to HCM Shri Bikash Basnet, Secretary Information and Public Relations Department Smt. Siphorah G. Targain and staff of media house.
After the inauguration of the Head Office of TV Network, the Minister IPR along with the dignitaries, visited the Production Control Room and the Recoding Studio and further officially launched the TV Channel and aired the broadcast. The Minister also extended congratulations and best wishes for achieving new heights of success, in his recorded message.
The Minister in his inaugural address marked the day a historic and constructive in the field of journalism. He expressed his happiness on launching of Hamro Varta Print & Digital Media TV Channel and recalled challenging circumstances tackled by the Daily Newspaper Hamro Varta at the beginning of the publication. Further, he shared its popularity and success in gradually reaching the urban and rural population in all districts. He also emphasised on role and responsibility of the press and media and advised to work with ethics of journalism and stability in any situation for sustainable and professional journalism. The Minister also acknowledged hardships and impediments normally faced by the members associated with the journalism profession.
He also congratulated the Hamro Varta media house on behalf of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Sikkim and wished for consistent progress and a successful journey ahead. Further, he assured to extend all possible supports from the government’s end.
President, Press Club of Sikkim, Shri Joseph Lepcha also addressed the gathering and drew lights on the sense of responsibility and work ethics of journalism. He extended best wishes on behalf of the press fraternity for new achievements and success.
Earlier, Editor Hamro Varta Shri Saran Karki and Editor-In-Chief Shri Ratan Gurung also shared their views and experiences across the journey of Hamro Varta.
