Namchi, 26th November (IPR): The final meeting concerning Krishi Loan Mela was held at DAC, Conference Hall today. The meeting organized by Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Agriculture and Horticulture Department had the presence of SDM (HQ) Shri. Chiran Rizal, Additional Director (AH/VS) Dr. Mala Bajgai, Reserve Bank of India (AGM) Mr. I. Y.T Namcho, Lead Bank (Chief Manager) Mr. Gopal Lama, DDM (NABARD) Mr. Rupen Lamichaney, bank managers from various other banks along with the staff of the concerned department.
Addressing, the gathering SDM (HQ) Shri. Chiran Rizal spoke about the importance of this mela and highlighted the proactive role that the banker’s need to play in order to carry forward the Krishi Loan. He pointed out that it is crucial for the farmers and the bankers to understand the various components clearly before availing of this loan. He also added that the bankers need to be specific while handing out the loan to the farmers and updated that the bank is responsible to guide the applicants while dispensing the loan.
Credit Linkage Facilitator Shri. Pradeep Bhandari spoke about the aim and objective of this loan. He also informed that Krishi loan mela will assist the farmers and build up the economy in rural areas which will be facilitated by the agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry division.
Additional Director Dr. Mala Bajgai underlined the bank and the farmers who have opted for the Krishi loan to work in tandem for the successful implementation of this loan. She added that the concept of this loan should be properly understood by both parties. She also thanked the assistant given by the banks for the smooth functioning of providing the loan.
Resource Persons Shri. Gopal Lama and Shri. I. Y.T Namcho underscored that the banker’s need to aptly comprehend the intention of this loan. As this loan mela is to uplift the economic standard of the farmers they added to the bankers present during the meeting to be properly informed before disbursing the loan. They collectively emphasized that this Krishi Loan Mela is one of the important ideation of the Sikkim State Government aimed at elevating the living standard of the farmers and urged the bankers to relentlessly support the State Government in this endeavor.
During the course of the meeting, an open discussion was held between the participants and the department. Various loans under Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry was also discussed in detail.
