Children’s Day observed in the State Capital

Gangtok, November 14 (IPR): The annual celebration which is held on the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Late Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru was observed in a function at Ridge Park, Gangtok, today. Every year, his birth anniversary is celebrated as Children’s Day across India as a tribute to Late Pandit Nehru.
The function was attended by the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang along with a host of other dignitaries.
The function saw the garlanding on the bust of Late Pt. Nehru by the Hon’ble Governor and Hon’ble Chief Minister. They paid their reverence and tribute to Pt. Nehru and honoured his timeless contribution to the country.
On the occasion, Hon’ble Minister for Education Shri Kunga Nima Lepcha, Hon’ble Minister for Health Dr. M.K .Sharma, Hon’ble Minister for Forest Shri Karma Loday Bhutia, Hon’ble MLA Gangtok Constituency and Advisor Tourism and Civil Aviation Department Shri Y.T. Lepcha, Hon’ble Advisors, Chief Secretary Shri S.C. Gupta, DGP Shri A. Shankar Rao, Addl. Chief Secretary Education Department Shri G.P. Upadhayay, dignitaries and officials also paid their tributes.
Senior officers of the State Government and students from schools around the state capital were also present at the function, duly adhering to the COVID-19 safety protocol.
