The Chief Secretary chairs preparatory meeting ahead of Defence Minister’s visit

Gangtok, October 25(IPR): A preparatory meeting for the visit of the Hon’ble Defence Minister, Government of India, Shri Rajnath Singh to Sikkim was held at Tashiling Secretariat, today. The Chief Secretary, Shri. S.C. Gupta chaired the meeting. DGP, Secretary to HCM, Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department DC (East), SP (East), Officers from 17th Mountain Division, GREF, BRO along with officers and representatives from Special Branch, Home, Health, Tourism, UDD, GMC, Ecclesiastical, Raj Bhawan and IPR with the members of Thakurbari Mandir Committee attended the meeting.
Principal Secretary, Home Department, Shri R. Telang in his preliminary remark briefed the gathering about the arrangement and tour details of the Hon’ble Defence Minister. In the discussion that followed, the Chief Secretary stated that Doordarshan would handle reporting and media coverage as per the instructions of the Central Government and the Department of Information and Public Relations would provide the same for the State. He also requested that the communication between the army and the state administration be limpidly clear for the programme and that there should be no ambiguity.
The Thakurbari Mandir Committee gave details of the inauguration of the temple while the Health Department assured emergency medical facilities.
In conclusion, Shri Telang thanked the Chief Secretary and everyone for taking the time to attend the meeting. Shri S.C. Gupta wished the army and administration luck for the programme.
