Gyalshing, October 20(IPR): The coordination meeting on Village Development Plan(VDP) on Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) Village of Gyaten Karmatar GPU under West District was held at VAC 24 Hee GPU Dentam today.
The meeting was graced by Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Shri Indra Hang Subba accompanied by Additional Political Secretary to HCM (West) Shri Madhu Sudan Sharma, ADC (Gyalshing), Shri Tushar G.Nikhare, ADC( Dev) Shri Surat Kumar Gurung, SDM(Dentam) Shri N.K. Karki, BDO (Dentam) Shri Garap Dorjee Bhutia, Officers from Line Departments, HOD’S, Panchayat members, Gram Panchayat members and others.
ADC(Dev)West, in his welcome address briefly highlighted on VDP under SAGY and stressed on working with proper coordination for the holistic development of the village.
Addressing the meeting, Hon’ble MP, Shri Indra Hang Subba informed that SAGY is a no fund provision scheme. It’s a program for the holistic development of the village. He added that the development done for the village will be beneficial for the future generation and help them to be self-reliant and self-sustained. He highlighted that Elected Representatives play a pivotal role in escalating the scheme. Hence he asserted upon accountability and transparency towards execution of the scheme and in addition, he suggested all the Elected Representatives intervene in a timely manner so as to seek out any drawbacks and advised the concerned officials to work in close coordination for the betterment of the public.
He further stressed that VDP should be taken very seriously and also urged the local people to work in close coordination with the teachers in the cleanliness activities of the school. He requested the people not to work for individual development but for community upliftment as SAGY is meant for Holistic Development.
He also informed on the increase of wage to the higher altitude MGNREGA wagers. He further suggested having healthy discussions on drop out rates, fertility rates, mental health status at the GPU level.
Feasibility is one of the main components for the proper functioning of any new plan on development, he informed. He also briefed about the government’s guidelines maintaining the Covid-19 protocol and outlined the three key messages: wearing masks, following physical distancing and proper hand hygiene.
ADC (Gyalshing), Tushar G.Nikhre while speaking on the occasion emphasized the active participation of unemployed youths for the betterment of society. They can be given training on creating websites so that the tourists can be aware of the information about Sikkim. He also emphasized on the utilization of local bamboos for fencing as it is low cost and easy access in the village itself. He also spoke about the Dada Dadi, Nana Nani scheme where they can be raised questions on pension benefits, bank facilities and domestic issues, etc. He asserted on financial awareness to the people of Sikkim for the coming generation.
Open discussion on Village Development Plan (VDP) was done by Panchayats and Officials from all the line departments. PowerPoint presentation on VDP of SAGY village of Gyaten Karmatar was also done by BDO, Dentam Shri Garap Dorjee Bhutia.
Later the vote of thanks was proposed by Panchayat President, Smt. Devi Maya Chettri.
