Training Programme for lawyers on eCourts Services

Gangtok, October 11: Under the directions of Hon’ble Executive Chairperson, Sikkim SLSA, Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, a training programme for lawyers on eCourts Services, was conducted through a webinar on 10th October.
The training programme was conducted in compliance to the instructions received from Hon’ble Chairperson, eCommittee, Supreme Court of India, in order to ensure that access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) enabled services is available to the Ld. Advocates at all levels.
The e-Courts project was conceptualized and implemented during 2007, on the basis of the National Policy and Action Plan for Implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Indian Judiciary submitted by e-Committee (Supreme Court of India), with a vision to transform the Indian Judiciary by ICT enablement of Ld. Courts. This was carried out in order to provide ICT enablement of the Ld. Courts to make justice delivery system affordable, easily and all time available and also cost-effective.
Shri Suraj Chettri, District & Sessions Judge (Special Division-I) at Gangtok and Judge, Family Court (East) at Gangtok, was the Resource Person for today’s programme. The training programme, through the webinar was attended by the Panel Lawyers and Advocates from all the four Districts of Sikkim.
During the training, a brief introduction with regard to eCourts Project, was disseminated amongst the participants by Shri Suraj Chettri. Facilities available for the Advocates in eCourts Services was also deliberated upon, along with the procedure for eFiling of cases and the mode of payment of Court Fees through eFiling process. The detail of any case in any Ld. Court can be accessed from the site – In case of non-availability of internet connectivity, to know the status of any case, one can avail sms service facility by typing in message ECOURTS<space>your Case Number Reference number> to 9766899899.
The training session ended with vibrant interaction by the Resource Person along with the participants.
