North Sikkim celebrates 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi


Mangan, 2nd Oct IPR: 151st birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi was observed in the DAC Complex, Mangan.

The programme was attended by ADC/ADM Mangan Shri Sonam Lepcha. He was accompanied by ADC (Dev) North Shri R.B. Bhandari, Land Revenue (RO/AD) Shri Karma Atop Bhutia, Deputy Director (HRDD) Shri Sajan V Sebastian, Deputy Director (Sports and Youth affairs) Smt. Janim Lepcha, MEO (MMC) Shri Tenpo Tashi Bhutia, Chairman (CWC) Smt. Mingma Bhutia and officials from various departments of North Sikkim.

The programme was hosted by the Department of Sports and Youth affairs Mangan, North Sikkim under the banner of Ministry of Youth affairs and Sports, Government of India.

The 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was observed by the Officers and employees of North Sikkim by offering khadas and garlands on the portrait.

The theme of the programme was” Fit India Freedom Run” which was organised by Department of Sports and Youth affairs Mangan, North Sikkim under the banner of Ministry of Youth affairs, Government of India.

This programme had started from 15th Aug 2020. The main objectives of this programme was to create awareness about fitness and healthy life among the general public during these pandemic situation.

The programme also included activities like Jogging, Running, Calisthenics exercises, Zumba and Yoga. Department of Sports and Youth affairs also organised sports like Tae kwondo, Football, Table Tennis and Archery in entire North Sikkim.
