I was pleased to be a part of a Webinar on Van Dhan Vikas Yojana hosted by the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited(TRI-FED) via live video. The Chief Secretary and Secretary to CM were also present during the webinar.
There were several discussions on the implementation and the benefits of the scheme in the North-East states and how we can further improve it and make the best use of it for the development of the states and its people.
In my address, I expressed my gratitude towards the Tribal Ministry and our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for introducing the scheme across our country. Sikkim will also look forward to implementing this scheme and we expect that this will help the people belonging to the Scheduled Tribe, Economically weaker section of our society and people with disabilities providing them with maximum benefits.
Our Government will be setting up 80 Van Dhan Vikash centres in the State with the participation of 15 self-help group (SHG) with 20 members in each group. We have heeded the call of our Hon’ble Prime Minister for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and have been working towards making Sikkimese people independent and self-sufficient and today’s programme will help in resolving any issues hindering the implementation of the schemes in the State.
I also requested our Hon’ble Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Shri Arjun Munda to kindly announce the implementation of the scheme in the State on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti. He was generous enough to grant our request and I thank him on behalf of Sikkimese people for his swift response.
