Gyalshing, 07 Aug (IPR): A review meeting regarding Niti Aayog’s initiative of Transforming Aspirational district was chaired by Ms. Upma Srivastava, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India accompanied by Shri. Raj Yadav, Additional Secretary (Finance), Shri. Gopal Sadhwani, Director, Ministry of Tribal affairs/GOI, Shri. A.K. Kausik, Under Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, RD&GR/GOI, today at District Administration Centre’s Conference hall in West Sikkim.
Sub Divisional Magistrate, Shri. Tushar G. Nikhara, gave a Power Point presentation on district plan and the updated data of the indicators for transforming West Sikkim.
It is to be informed here, West District is among the 115 ‘Aspirational Districts’ of the country identified by the NITI Aayog for time bound transformation within 2022. The plan covers five sectors viz. Health & Nutrition, Education, Agriculture & Allied Areas, Basic Infrastructure,Skill Development & Financial inclusion. The district has come up with various indicators prevalent in these sectors as of today and what the district wants to achieve by 2022 through various technological,administrative,financial & infrastructural interventions.
Additional Secretary , Ms. Srivastava, asked the HoDs to take ownership and personal involvement so that the initiative is a success. She urged the HoDs present to work collectively. She said that the ranking of the Districts changes everyday and to meet the target set up she requested officers concerned to review progress on regular basis at departmental level and ensure submission of reports to the District Administration timely and directed NIC to upload the data immediately.
The meeting was attended by ADC/Dev (Soreng), Addl. Director (HRDD), CDPO (Gyalshing), DRCHO (Gyalshing District Hospital), JD (Health/TB), JD (Agriculture), JD (Horticulture), KVK Scientists, JE (PHE), AE (Power), BDO (Dentam), US (RMDD), Bank representatives & various other officials.
