Namchi, Dated: 18.09.2020: With a vision of transforming our nation sustainably into an equitable and vibrant knowledgeable society by providing high quality education to all, National Education Policy, 2020, with the approval of Union Cabinet of India has now replaced the National Policy of Education ,1986.
With the aim of Orienting School Heads of Primary Schools of South Sikkim on the same, a two days Web based Orientation Program was organised by DIET, Namchi on 17th and 18th, September, 2020. Participants of the event were the School Heads of Primary schools, Principals and Faculties of DIETs ( West &East), and Assistant Directors of Block Administrative Centres of South Sikkim. 91 Participants participated actively in the event.
The Inaugural Session began with a warm welcome by Shri Ganesh Chandra Dahal, Principal, DIET, Namchi and was chaired by Shri D.B.Subba, Deputy Director, Education Department, South Sikkim.
Two key note speakers, Dr. S.R. Adhikari and Shri Sagar Moktan, Joint Directors of SCERT, Sikkim gave their deliberations on Perspects, Opportunities, Need and Preparedness of the teachers according to NEP, 2020 and the Implementation of same in due course.
Faculties of DIET, Namchi viz. Dr. Nanda Lal Sharma, Mr. Ajay Subba, Mrs. Parumita Rai, Mrs. Bandana Chettri, Mrs. Nayuma Rai, Mrs. Passang Lhamu Bhutia and Mrs. Martha Lepcha were the Resource Persons of the event who gave presentations on important aspects and themes of NEP, 2020 such as Strengthening Early Childhood Care and Education, Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, New Curriculum and Pedagogical Structure, Transformation of Curriculum & Pedagogy, Teacher and Teacher Education, Equitable & Inclusive Education for Every Child in the Country, School Complexes, Effective Management and Administration of Schools, Promoting Indian Languages,etc.
