A meeting of District water & Sanitation Mission commenced under the guidance of District Collector West

Gyalshing, 14th September (IPR): A meeting of District water & Sanitation Mission to discuss the various water supply works to be taken up under Jal Jeevan Mission(JJM) was commenced under the guidance of District Collector, West, Shri. Karma R. Bonpo in his chamber at District Administrative Centre, Rabdentse.
Jal Jeevan Mission is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India. The program will also implement source sustainability measures as mandatory elements, such as recharge and reuse, water conservation, rainwater harvesting. The Jal Jeevan Mission will be based on a community approach to water and will include extensive Information, Education, and Communication as a key component of the mission. JJM looks to create a jan andolan for water, thereby making it everyone’s priority.
At the outset, DC enquired about the present situation of the water sources, connections, availability of drinking water in the schools, ICDs, and rural areas of the district. He emphasized covering every schools, ICDs and household of rural areas under the Jan Jeevan Mission and directed to cross-check the recent list with the data of GPU level. He also instructed to include Gangyap and Jhushingthang residential school a separate connection from the source itself. He directed every concerned department to work in proper coordination with the dedication to combating the crises of water connectivity in rural areas of the district.
The meeting also had the presence of ADC/Dev(Gyalshing & Soreng), JD(Agriculture), DPO(WDZP), DFO(T), DE(RMDD), DE(WDZP), and other departmental representatives.
