Namchi, 26th August (IPR): The second day of the disaster site inspection led by a team of officials comprising of ADC (South) Shri. Satyen.K.Pradhan, J.Secretary to HCM Shri. Deepen Sharma and JS cum Director (SSDMA) Smt. Subha Mukhia was held on 25th August wherein the team inspected various disaster-affected areas in South district.
The team was also accompanied by Hon’ble Chairman of Skill Development Department Shri Satish Rai, Hon’ble Zilla Adhakshya(South) Ms. Tshering Dem Bhutia alongside BDO Temi, DPO, RO/AD (Namchi), DE (PWD), AE & JE( PWD), Revenue Surveyors and other field functionaries of various departments.
The team inspected areas such as NH 510, NH 710, Tarku Zero & Diu Dentam PS under Temi Block, Damthang Bazaar, Punjitar (Damthang GPU), Nardang Ward (Legship) and NHPC area which has all been affected by slides insinuated by heavy rainfall during the monsoon.
During the course of the inspection, deliberations to relief, restoration, mitigation measures for the areas visited were widely discussed. It was also understood that a thorough study with the support of technical expertise of officials from Mines, Mineral & Geology Department, Water Resource and River Development Department, PWD, UD&HD, RDD( Engineering Cell, PMGSY) was required before drawing a long term holistic mitigation measures/engineering solutions for Gyakshi (Tarku Zero), Punjitar, Damthang Bazaar, Nardang slide at Legship and NHPC area. Thus, concerning the same decision, it was decided that a joint inspection by a team comprising of officials from the above-mentioned departments in areas wherever necessary will be conducted in the days to come.
