Gangtok, August 13 (Raj Bhavan): International Organ Donation Day was observed at Raj Bhavan today. Hon’ble Governor, Shri Ganga Prasad led the celebration and he was accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary, Shri S. D. Negi, Additional Secretary of Raj Bhavan, Shri B. K. Lama and other officials and staff of Raj Bhavan.
In his brief address, the Hon’ble Governor, Shri Ganga Prasad stressed on nationwide movement on organ donation. He urged people to come forward to generate awareness for this noble cause and even during their moment of grief, as a gesture of humanity.
The Hon’ble Governor also talked about the importance of organ donation and how it can save the lives of others.
“Due to lack of awareness on organ donation, there is a huge gap between organ donors and needy people. We must pledge ourselves and motivate others for this noble cause to save the lives of others,” he said. He also shared that the Organ Donation program will also be held in Sikkim in the near future.
Hon’ble Governor is also associated with Dadhichi Dehdaan Samiti, Patna Bihar, and has already pledged and donated his body. Dadhichi Dehdaan Samiti is working tirelessly across the nation to promote and spread the message of organ donation amongst the general public.
On the occasion, Hon’ble Governor also attended a video conference with executive members of Dadhichi Dehdaan Samiti, Bihar which was joined by Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Sushil Kumar Modi.
Through video conference, the Hon’ble Governor expressed his gratitude and thanked organ donors who voluntarily donate their organs to save the lives of others.
