Gangtok, 10th August (IPR): Hon’ble Minister for Printing and Stationery Department, Shri Lok Nath Sharma, chaired a coordination meeting of the Printing Department with the departmental officials this afternoon in the presence of Secretary, Printing and Stationery, Smt. Ambika Pradhan.
Hon’ble Minister Shri Sharma discussed the technical aspects of printing technology and stressed on upgradation of machineries and equipment so that the printing strength can be enhanced with improved quality. He also advised to put up a proposal with an estimate report of technical requirements of all necessary equipment, accessories, manpower and all indispensable components.
Further, he put forward the concept of constituting a Commercial Printing Unit separately in order to generate revenue for the State Government in the near future. Setting up of a Maintenance Cell along with trained manpower and opening of additional printing centre outside Gangtok were also discussed at length.
He further suggested procuring printing works of all Pharmaceutical companies and educational institutions. He further suggested undertaking all printing works of Sikkim once the technological reformation is completed.
Hon’ble Minister reiterated the commitment of the State Government and intense longing of the Hon’ble Chief Minister for revamping and strengthening of Printing Department.
During the meeting, various other subjects including financial settlement of outstanding dues and payment, deployment of security and administrative issues were also discussed.
