A meeting was held to discuss the proper disposal of COVID-19 biomedical waste

Gangtok, August 1: A meeting was held in the Conference Hall of Forest Department today to discuss on the proper disposal of COVID-19 biomedical waste being generated from various Quarantine Centres, STNM hospital and district hospitals as per the proper Government guidelines and standard protocols.

During the meeting, various solutions in order to align safe management practices for waste generated in the hospitals and various centres were also deliberated upon, as it is one of the key elements that contribute to the overall health protection and safety of everyone. The meeting had a detail discussion on the management of these biomedical waste, which requires proper attention to avoid any adverse health issues.

Similarly, the current requirements of staff in the hospitals and proper management to overcome such future situations was also discussed.

The meeting was attended by Hon’ble Minister for Forest Shri Karma Loday Bhutia, Political Secretary to HCM Shri Jacob Khaling, Mayor GMC Shri Shakti Singh Chaudhary, Chairman State Pollution Control Board, Secretary UDD, MS STNM, officials from Health, Forest Departments, Pollution Control Board and members of Joint Forest Management Committee.
