18 new cases have been reported in the State

Gangtok, July 24(IPR): As per today’s Health Bulletin issued by DG-cum-Secretary, Health, Dr. Pempa T. Bhutia, 18 new cases have been reported in the State in the last twenty-four hours. With 137 persons cured and discharged till date, the total active cases in the State now stands at 340.
It was informed that 10 cases were reported on RTPCR and 8 cases on Rapid Antigen.

Out of the 10 cases reported on RTPCR, 2 persons were from a paid quarantine centre in Majhitar, 4 from SSB Yuksom, 1 from TNA school compound, and 3 from SSB Melli Aching.

On Rapid Antigen testing, 5 from Rangpo tested positive. They were secondary contacts linked to Rangpo and Chanatar cases.
The remaining 3 who tested positive were from Nandok.
It was informed that all the 8 persons have been lodged in the Isolation facility at Himalayan Pharmacy Boys’ Hostel Majhitar.

Dr. Bhutia shared the good news that not a single case of Covid-19 was reported from Rongli, Rhenock and Singtam.
He said that the lock-down and containment measures have helped control further spread of the virus in these areas.

The DG-cum-Secretary further informed that the single positive case reported from Singtam yesterday was that of an employee of Zydus Wellness Centre in Mamring.
He informed that 157 more samples from the area have been sent for RTPCR testing today.
He also informed that several samples from Jorethang have also been sent for RTPCR testing.
Further, samples from Arithang in Gangtok are being tested, he informed.
