22 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the State

Gangtok, July 23 (IPR): As per today’s Health Bulletin issued by DG-cum-Secretary, Health, Dr. Pempa T. Bhutia, 22 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the State in the last 24 hours. 10 persons were cured and discharged from the Hospital today, taking the tally of active cases to 338.

The DG-cum-Secretary informed that 331 patients are currently admitted in the Covid-19 wing of STNM Hospital, while 7 patients are admitted in the Isolation ward of Ayush Hospital, Geyzing. He further informed that 4 patients in STNM are in ICU but their condition is said to be stable.

Providing the breakup of the 22 new cases, Dr. Bhutia informed that 8 cases were reported on RTPCR while 14 cases were reported on Rapid Antigen Testing.

Following is the breakup of the cases reported on RTPCR:
One 55 Year old female from Setipool who works in Sun Pharma company was reported positive from STNM Hospital flu clinic. She is said to be one of the contacts from the last rites gathering of Rangpo.
Two persons, one 50 year old male and one 25 year old male from ATTC Bardang.
Two persons, 36 and 23 year old males from a paid quarantine facility in Gangtok who had returned to the State on the 15th of July.
Two persons from Timburbong, West Sikkim, both secondary contacts from the Rangpo gathering.
One SSB Jawan from Geyzing.

Similarly, the breakup of Rapid Antigen is as follows:
13 cases from Rangpo (contacts of Mining and Chanatar cases).
1 case from Singtam. The person is an employee of Zydus Healthcare Pharmaceutical company.

The DG-cum-Secretary shared the good news that all the Rapid Antigen Tests conducted in Rhenock, Rongli, Rangpo (returnees), and parts of West Sikkim have come negative.

He also shared that all the primary and secondary contacts of the positive case from Working Womens’ Hostel Deorali have tested negative for Covid-19.
