Gangtok, July 20 (IPR): As per today’s Health Bulletin issued by DG-cum-Secretary, Health, Dr. Pempa T. Bhutia, 35 new cases have been detected in the State in the last 24 hours, following tests of primary and secondary contacts of the recent Covid-19 positive cases, especially in Rangpo and surrounding areas. The number of active cases has reached 213, and with 92 persons cured and discharged, the cumulative total now stands at 305. At present, 206 patients are admitted in the Isolation Ward of STNM Hospital while 7 patients (from SSB Yuksom) who are all asymptomatic are admitted in the Isolation Ward of Ayush Hospital, Geyzing.
The DG-cum-Secretary shared the break-up of the cases which is as follows:
14 positive from Rangpo contacts, 9 from Mamring, 2 from Timburbong, 7 from Rongli Antigen test, 1 positive on TrueNat (driver from Sang khola) and 2 positives on RTPCR (one from paid quarantine facility in Gangtok and one from Dikchu). So total cases = 35.
The DG-cum-Secretary shared details of the contact tracing of the primary contacts of the positive case detected in Working Womens’ Hostel Deorali. 110 persons were tested in Rangpo, out of which 14 persons tested positive for Covid-19. Among the 9 cases detected in Mamring, 1 person is an employee of Xydus Cadilla Pharmaceutical company, while another person is an employee of Wai Wai Factory. The DG-cum-Secretary informed that contact tracing of these two persons is being done. He also informed that samples of all primary and secondary contacts of the two positive cases from Timburbong West Sikkim has been sent for RTPCR Testing.
He informed that all the primary and secondary contacts (70 contacts) of the police personnel from Singtam have tested negative.
In Rongli, 7 persons who had tested positive yesterday and were kept in Chujachen Isolation facility have been shifted to the Isolation Ward of STNM Hospital today after they developed symptoms.
In Rhenock, all the persons tested on Rapid Antigen were reported negative.
Meanwhile, three persons were admitted in the Isolation Ward of STNM Hospital today. One was a driver from Sang Khola in East Sikkim, one was a returnee lodged in a paid quarantine centre and the third person was from Dikchu.
Dr. Bhutia further informed that 2 persons working in catering service in the Transit Camp in Rangpo have tested positive.
In his bulletin, the DG-cum-Secretary also shared some of the decisoons taken in the State Task Force Meeting held today:
1. All Asymptomatic positive cases will henceforth be lodged in Indoor Gymnasium Hall, Paljor Stadium.
2. Suspected cases will be kept in ICAR complex and Farmers’ Hostel.
3. MCH Building in old STNM Hospital will be kept on stand-by for second line service.
4. All routine OPD of STNM Hospital Sochyagang will be shifted to old STNM at the earliest.
5. War Room will be created in STNM Hospital, Sochyagang.
6. A Control Room will also be established in STNM Hospital Sochyagang to facilitate proper coordination.
