Two persons have tested positive for Covid-19 in STNM Hospital

Gangtok, July 13 (IPR): As per daily health bulletin issued by DG cum Secretary Health Dr. Pempa T. Bhutia today, 2 persons have tested positive for Covid-19 in the RTPCR test performed at the VRD Laboratory in STNM Hospital yesterday.
Out of the 2 persons, 1 who tested positive was lodged at ATTC Bardang facility quarantine centre since 5th July. He had developed a fever on 10th July and was admitted in the Triage facility in STNM and tested immediately.
The other person who tested positive had entered the State along with three of his relatives and had been lodged in the facility quarantine centre at SICB Karfectar.
The remaining three persons have tested negative. However, they will again be tested in seven days for confirmation.

As per the official report, five more people were recovered and discharged today. With a total of 87 people discharged, the number of active cases now stands at 66, and the total tally of Covid-19 cases in the State stands at 153.

The DG-cum-Secretary also informed that Rongli Subdivision continues to be under strict surveillance with the District Administration and Health workers keeping a strong vigil, especially in areas surrounding the GREF Camp.
He informed that a team led by District Surveillance Officer, District Hospital Singtam visited the Camp on 12th July and took 75 samples from the GREF workers, District officials and local people for RTPCR testing. Among the people whose samples were drawn were 21 GREF workers who were staying outside the camp on rented accommodation. Likewise, 54 samples were drawn from local people, helpers, cook etc as well as District officials, health workers and local volunteers. The results of these 75 samples are expected to arrive later today, informed Dr. Bhutia.

The DG-cum-Secretary further informed that 94 Rapid Antigen Tests were performed at Rangpo screening centre yesterday, out of which all the tests came negative.
However, out of 51 tests performed today, 4 people tested positive. Three persons were from Kolkata while one was from Siliguri who was travelling onward to Nathu La. The person from Siliguri has been admitted in the Isolation ward of STNM Hospital while the remaining three have been given the option of either getting admitted in STNM Hospital or to return back to Kolkata in consultation with IDSP West Bengal.

Dr. Bhutia also informed that with the effectiveness of Rapid Antigen Testing, the facility could be extended to the remaining districts as well.
