Gyalshing, 13th July 2020 (IPR): The 206th Bhanu Jayanti, celebrated in the traditional tune of Nepali culture and literary deliberations at Gyalshing, today. The programme, organised by Pashchim Zilla Sahitya Prakashan in the coordination of West District Administration, was presided by the Hon’ble Deputy Speaker (SLA) Shri. Sangay Lepcha and the Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA of Gyalshing Bermiok constituency, Shri. Lok Nath Sharma graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The Program was also attended by Shri. Karma R. Bonpo, DC West; Shri. Tashi Wangyal, SP West; Shri. T. T. Bhutia SDM Gyalshing along with officials and executive members of Paschim Zilla Sahitya Prakashan and others
Dy. Speaker Shri. Lepcha, in his brief address, stressed upon the significance of Unity and Communal Harmony reflected by the cultural and literary programme of Bhanu Jayanti. He also advised to assimilate the affirmative part of society and pass on to the next generation for sustainable growth and development.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Shri. Lok Nath Sharma articulated strength of determination and commitment of a common man like “Ghashi” who enlightened Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta with his socially motivating perspectives and perseverance and further, he threw lights to imbibe useful and invaluable lessons from everyone without any social and economical status.
He also drew lights on invaluable wisdom and teachings of Ramayana and advised the gathering to materialise the lessons in practice for social and economic development.
The programme also saw chanting of Ramayana and poetry recitation.
Earlier, Dy. Speaker Shri. Lepcha, Minister Sharma and other dignitaries paid tribute to Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya by offering khadas on his statue at Bharatiya Nepali Literary and Cultural Research Centre premises.
The programme was concluded with the plantation of saplings by the Dy. Speaker Shri Sangay Lepcha; Minister Sharma and Officials at the Bhanu Salig complex.
Similar programs were conducted in the other subdivisions of West Sikkim.
