Hon’ble Governor Shri Ganga Prasad attended valedictory function of Chanakya Varta’s Purvottar Parisamvad through webinar


Gangtok, July 3: Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Ganga Prasad attended valedictory function of a three day long event Chanakya Varta’s Purvottar Parisamvad through webinar. The three day event was on North East and concluding day was mainly focused on Sikkim. The webinar programme was organized by Chanakyavarta, New Delhi.

In his address, Hon’ble Governor acknowledged and appreciated the State Government and frontline warriors for responding proactively and boldly in tackling the Coronavirus pandemic timely in a coordinated way. All necessary precautionary measures were taken by the Sikkim Government from the very beginning which helped the State to handle the crisis situation till May 23.
He appreciated selfless efforts put forth by the frontline warriors of Sikkim and exhorted their dedication for discharging their duty.

Through webinar, Hon’ble Governor informed about the homage programme, ‘Veeron Ko Naman’ where Sikkim Government paid tribute to the Indian soldiers who were martyred in the recent standoff at Galwan valley in Ladakh. Hon’ble Governor complemented the State government for honouring the brave soldiers for their sacrifice.
Speaking on Organic farming, Hon’ble Governor lauded farmers of Sikkim and government for expansion of organic farming. With the practise of organic farming, Sikkim scaled new heights of development while keeping the environment clean and protected and it also transformed the agricultural sector into better remunerative field. Organic farming has shown the way to the world. It will boost the economy of North-eastern States, stated the Hon’ble Governor.
Hon’ble Governor highlighted the State success in the field of sustainable tourism practices and environmental conservation methods.

The live webinar was participated by Union Health Minister of State, Aswini Kumar Choubey, former Defence Secretary, Yogendra Narain, faculty from Sikkim Central University, officials from Sikkim Education Department, farmers and social workers.
