Gangtok, June 9: Newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC), of 17th Mountain Division, Major General, Rohit Sawhney called on Hon’ble Governor, Shri, Ganga Prasad at Raj Bhavan on Monday.
During a courtesy call, various important issues related to the security situation in the Himalayan state, Sikkim were discussed.
Hon’ble Governor appreciated the Army for their steady fast dedication and devotion to duty and their support to the civil administration during the emergency. The Hon’ble Governor mentioned that the army has a great role to play and appreciated their efforts in Sikkim while evacuating tourists in Nathula during heavy snowfall and landslide.
During the meeting, GOC Rohit assured the Hon’ble Governor for all cooperation and support.
Hon’ble Governor congratulated Major General Rohit on the assumption of his new charge as GOC of 17th Mountain Division.
Major General Rohit was accompanied by his predecessor, Major General R.C. Tiwari.
