Pakyong, 30th May (IPR): The Excise Department organised an extensive sanitisation drive at Pakyong bazaar as a preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
The sanitisation drive was initiated by Area MLA, Namcheybong constituency cum Advisor, Excise Department, Shri Em Prasad Sharma and also had the participation of Commissioner Excise Department, Mrs Binita Chettri, Secretary, Excise Department, Shri Tshering Namgyal Bhutia, ADC(Dev), Pakyong Smt Radha Pradhan, SDM Pakyong, Shri Hemant Rai, doctors, officials from line departments, panchayat and other local gentry.
The drive was carried out at Pakyong Primary Health Centre covering New Market, State Bank of Sikkim, Police Station, haat bazaar and places where public gatherings are most likely to occur.
During the course, Shri Em Prasad Sharma stated that the exercise was being undertaken to prevent the pandemic in the locality concerning the health and safety of the public.
He further appealed to the public to follow strict precautionary measures and guidelines of the Government to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
Secretary Excise Department extended gratitude to Mount Distilleries Limited for sponsoring the sanitisation drive and in providing alcohol based disinfectants manufactured by the company. He further thanked the sanitisation staff and team deployed by Mount Distilleries for their efforts and contribution in combating the pandemic.
The local people expressed their happiness and satisfaction on the initiative taken by the Department to protect and ensure the health and safety of the public at large.
