Hon’ble Ministers Shri Kunga Nima & Hon’ble Minister Shri Sanjeet Kharel inspected the newly setup pre-fabricated structure at Melli

Namchi 15th May(IPR): Hon’ble Ministers for Land Revenue and Disaster Management Department Shri Kunga Nima Lepcha and Transport Department Shri Sanjeet Kharel along with Area MLA Zoom Salghari and Chairperson SIMFED Smt. Sunita Gajmer visited and inspected the newly setup pre-fabricated structure at Melli Screening Centre today.
It may be mentioned here that the earlier screening structure which was temporarily set up was replaced by the pre-fabricated structure and has been made functional from today onwards.
The dignitaries thoroughly took stock of the Melli Screening Centre and inquired about the basic facilities in place at the centre. They also lauded the hard work and relentless efforts of all the front line workers who are stationed at the centre and provided words of motivation for them to carry on with their responsibilities with utmost sincerity and dedication.
During the inspection DC South Shri Ragul K, briefed the dignitaries about the systematic functioning of the Screening Centre since its inception on 5th of May. He also mentioned that the stranded returnees were screened and examined following all safety norms in the screening centre. Similarly, the visitors were also categorically informed about the features of the screening centre which comprises of contactless hand-wash units, mobile bio-toilets with solar lights, waiting sheds, changing rooms, administrative setup and a refreshment corner for the front line workers. He also apprised the Ministers that various departments of South District are sponsoring a day’s meal as an act of goodwill to all the front line workers deployed at the screening centre.
Furthermore, as informed by CMO South Dr. D.C.Sharma, the pre-fabricated structure is a contactless screening setup which has a total number of 3 screening units. He also informed about the existence of an intercom facility to facilitate contactless communication between the frontline workers and returnees as and when required. Additionally, he also threw light on how a thorough assessment and examination of the stranded people of South and West Districts are being undertaken at the centre.
In the course of inspection, SSP South Shri Pravin Gurung, SDM Jorethang cum Nodal Officer (Screening Centre) Shri R. B. Bhandari, SDPO Jorethang Shri S. K. Shreshtha, MO Melli PHC Dr. Deepika Gurung, a host of medical and administrative officials and staff were also present.
