Mangan, May 6 : (IPR) Hon’ble Area MLA-cum- Minister Roads and Bridges Department, Government of Sikkim Shri Samdup Lepcha disbursed incentive of rupees five thousands each to the “Safai Karmacharis” of Mangan Nagar Panchayat for their dedicated service on keeping the town clean amid this COVID-19 pandemic.
The disbursement of cheque of incentive was took place here at conference hall of Mangan Nagar Panchayat in the presence of Mangan Nagar Panchayat President, Smt Zangmu Bhutia, Councillors. MEO, Shri Tempo Tshering Bhutia and Shri Tshering Wongyal Bhutia, Legal coordinator, SKM, North Sikkim.
It may be pertinent to mention here that this incentive was announced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang on 1st of May considering the hard work put up by the safai karmacharis in order to keep the state neat and clean as to fight against novel corona virus epidemic.
As informed, similar incentive would be handed over to the safai karmacharis of Chungthang and Dikchu soon.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Shri Samdup Lepcha applauded the work done by the safai karmacharis as a front line warrior of COVID-19 and said that in coming days there are more real challenges to be face off with regard to this disease therefore he appealed to all to put collective effort irrespective of religious and political differences to combat this time of crisis and to ensure our safety.
Reiterating some of the containment measures to contain COVID-19 that the Government has taken up in its recently held state Level Task Force meeting under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang, Minister Shri Lepcha urged the general public to duly follow all the guide lines issued by the government and stay away from any anti social criticism which may appears from social media.
He has also given an assurance to the councillors of Mangan Nagar Panchayat to extend any kind of all possible help from his end to combat this pandemic. On top of that he called upon them to share their feedback and suggestion on how the quarantine could be made successful without any stigma and discrimination to the returnees.
After that, Minister Shri Lepcha met with the District Collector, North Shri Tenzing T. Kaleon, Sr. SP/North Shri Sonam Gyatso Bhutia and CMO/North Smt. Purna Basnett at the chamber of DC/North, wherein he took stock of implementation of 3.0 lockdown and arrangement of all institutional and paid quarantine facility of the district. He insisted that all quarantine must run duly following the guide lines of the Ministry of Health Affairs.
Further, Minister has directed to the DC, Sr. SP and Disaster management Department to set up Vehicle Disinfection Facility at Kabi and Rangrang Check Post.
